BOOK REVIEW: Fangirl “Here I come, ready or not”

February 22, 2015

“You wait. You wait until you forget that there’s anything to you beyond stillness and quiet; the hiding is enough. (You win when no one finds you, even if they’re not looking.) When you break from behind the tree is because you want to. It’s the first breath after a long dive. Branches snap under your feet, and the world is hotter and brighter. Ready or not, here I come. Here I come, ready or not.”

I have to accept that when I was at the bookstore, already holding two books in my hands, the only reason I picked this third one was for the cover and with that covered I imagined a different kind of story. It was an interesting read for me, I would have appreciated it much more if I’d read it about four years ago, even though at that time I would’ve still been older than the character, but was experiencing about the same things she was. I sometimes am a little closed off as well as Cath is, I tend to throw myself on books, TV series and close off when I’m going through something difficult. I enjoyed reading it and going through every emotion with her, as well as the ending, feeling a little stronger as she did. All that’s left is the decision that even though it all seems too much, too hard and too impossible you just have to stand up and keep going, to me that’s what the story leaves you with and I’m sharing my favorite excerpt from the whole book with you, to me it summarized everything perfectly. ‘You wait. Here I come, ready or not.’
